Out of the 16 ceremonies in total, the Naamkaran Sanskar of a newborn infant is a sacred tradition and one of the most significant. This is the occasion when parents choose the name of their infant using a pandit ji and the initial letter of the baby’s moon sign based on his horoscope. Friends, family, and close relatives attend this ceremony to bless the infant and wish him or her a happy and healthy life.
The naming ceremony should ideally take place on the eleventh day following the baby’s birth, but it can be planned at any time after the tenth day and before the child turns one.
